How To Find Us

The festival is held in the grounds of Auckland Castle just off Bishop Auckland Market Place.

Further stalls and entertainment will be taking place in the market place.

How to Get There

Service Buses

Direct service buses run regularly from Newcastle, Sunderland, Durham and Middlesbrough, as well as the surrounding areas to the town centre of Bishop Auckland.

Auckland Castle and market place is approximately five minutes walk from the bus station.

Train

Bishop Auckland Rail Station, connected to the main line is located in the town centre and approximately ten minutes walk to Auckland Castle.

The station runs regular services from the main line, from Darlington and all connecting stations.

Trains will also run from Weardale into Bishop Auckland West End Station.

Weardale Railways have announced that as well as their normal trains on this route throughout the day of the festival they will also run additional services. The attached PDF shows the timetable for the day, or more can be found on the Weardale Railway website.

Car (park and ride)

Town Car parking is of a premium, so arrangements for the visitors ease have been made for a free park and free service to the town centre from Bishop Auckland College. Please follow the signs on the day.

Asda supports Bishop Auckland Food Festival

Asda Bishop Auckland is supporting this year’s Bishop Auckland Food Festival and will be offering a free park and ride service from the store.

The supermarket is also exhibiting at the Festival with a marquee on site where colleagues will be sampling Extra Special ranges. In store, Asda will be giving away free chocolate eggs – the Easter bunny will also be on hand to help them!

The buses will leave every 10-15mins from the store to the food festival and back again. Asda Bishop Auckland store manager, Darren Noble, said: “We’ve delighted to be able to offer the free park and ride service to support the Festival and colleagues will be on hand on the day sampling and giving away balloons and treats to the kids. It’s a great date in the local diary and we wouldn’t miss it for the world.”
